United Family offering at-home COVID-19 testing kits

United Family pharmacies began selling at-home COVID-19 testing kits on Monday.

The ability to sell the kits is possible due to a partnership between the United Family and Phosphorous Diagnostics.

Samples collected for the tests will be saliva-based instead of the traditional nasal swab. Guests can typically receive results within 72 hours from the time the lab receives the test.

In order to receive one of the at-home testing kits, follow these instructions.

  • Visit scheduletest.com for a complete medical questionnaire and to request your test.
  • Your local United Family pharmacist will authenticate the information, review and order the test
  • You will then be contacted about payment and get a notification when the test is ready. Guests can pick up their test kit or have it delivered/shipped to their address. If a guest is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they should not pick up the test in person. They can send a representative or choose delivery.
  • Guests will then complete the sample collection and send it to the lab with the prepaid shipping envelope.
  • Guests will receive their results in 72 hours or less.

After getting the results from the tests, United Family pharmacists will be available for questions. Right now, United Family pharmacies are unable to bill insurance directly for the test, so payment will be out of pocket. Guests can, however, submit receipts to their insurance companies for reimbursement.
