Not only do players get a job with returning non-playable character Lottie to make villagers’ holiday dreams come true, they will also eventually help populate vacant facilitates on the main island of the archipelago.

Put your design skills to use building a school, restaurant, cafe and more with help from Lottie and two brand new Animal Crossing characters — manate Wardell and the gray langur Niko!

Working on Happy Home Paradise will give players a whole new set of interior design skills, many of which you can bring back to your own island to upgrade your villagers’ houses.

Nintendo released a dual update last week, including a massive free update on top of Happy Home Paradise. In total, more than 9,000 new items were added to the game when colour waves are factored in.

It’s also possible to build merchant shops on Harv’s Island for gardening ace Leaf, furniture customisers Reese and Cyrus, art dealer Jolly Redd and rug seller Sahara. Returning Animal Crossing characters Tortimer, fortune teller Katrina and hairstylist Harriet now have their own mini-shops too.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available to purchase and play on the Nintendo Switch.
